Sofie Layton, Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Visual and Material Lab, was recently invited to present her research at the 2025 ENERGI / RGS-IBG Conference “Geographies of Health” in Bristol. Layton’s performative lecture, “The Blueprinted Body: Materialising Loss” explored the use of the cyanotype (blueprint) both as a way of remediating and translating medical images and narratives of loss and grief in relation to pregnancy and child loss, and as a methodology for thinking through the care and wellbeing of bodies of water and wider planetary health concerns.
