We are pleased to announce that Dr Claire Jeantils has been appointed as the third CHARM Chair (2026).

Claire is the network lead of the International Narrative Neurology Network and an Honorary Fellow in our Institute for Medical Humanities at Durham University. She was previously a Bridging Fellow in the Narrative Practices Lab in our Discovery Research Platform.

Claire holds a PhD in French and Comparative Literature from Sorbonne Nouvelle University. Her research focuses on translational medical humanities and on critical approaches to narrative practices in medicine, with epilepsy and chronic illness as key case studies.

Claire says: “Being appointed as the 2026 CHARM chair is a real honour. It offers a unique opportunity as an ECR to broaden my networks and cultivate new collaborations, while also sharing my vision for the future of medical humanities. I can’t wait to meet the CHARM team in Ghent and discover this beautiful city!”

Claire will be in Ghent for six weeks in October and November 2026 to participate in CHARM’s scientific activities and to deliver the annual CHARM Lecture.

Congratulations, Claire, on your new role!
