Last week members of our Discovery Research Platform travelled to the The Hub at Wellcome Collection for a one-day meeting with ANTITHESIS – the Discovery Research Platform for Transformative Inclusivity in Ethics and Humanities Research at Oxford University.
Our Senior Creative Facilitator Mary Robson opened the day with ‘Object Lessons’: an invitation to each member of the group to choose an object from a selection of artefacts that best represented their research and could help them explain their work across teams. Veronica Heney then led a session on ‘Dangerous Narratives’ in which Alex Broadbent, Louise Creechan, and Michael Vine gave short presentations about aspects of their work, inspiring discussions on letters between care providers, sensations novels, and contagion. Finally, in the session led by ANTITHESIS, we explored the potential limits of academic investigations of radical moral disagreement.
Conversations across the day were wide-ranging and rewarding, and provided a fantastic opportunity to meet other researchers, share experiences and discover connections across our respective platforms.
Thank you to all Durham and Oxford researchers who contributed to the meeting, and to Harriet Martin and Alice Carey from The Hub for hosting the event. We look forward to continued opportunities to connect across Platforms, share ideas and learn from each other in the future.
