Postdoctoral Research Associate Kate Marks has been awarded a Visiting Fellowship to Linköping University in Sweden.
Kate Marks is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Moving Bodies Lab, where she works on the funded, award-winning project ‘Moving Social Work’.
Kate writes:
I’m excited to share that in April 2026, I’ll be joining Tema T – Technology and Social Change at Linköping University for a Visiting Fellowship under the theme Interdisciplinary Medical Humanities and Bioethics. This opportunity will allow me to immerse myself in a vibrant, international research environment and deepen my work on intersectionality, disability, and co-production – particularly in relation to global health priorities around physical activity.

During the fellowship, I’ll be focused on completing an co-produced manuscript, based on ongoing research, Moving Intersectionality within the project Moving Social Work at Durham University’s Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences. This research critically engaged with medical humanities and intersectionality, amplifying the voices of multiply marginalised disabled people. Beyond developing this manuscript, I will be participating in the ongoing seminar series within Tema T, sharing insights from my research and learning from colleagues at Tema T. I’m especially looking forward to connecting with scholars working at the intersection of technology and ethics. These conversations will explore how human-technology interactions – including AI – shape embodied experiences and raise important ethical questions in health and social care. This interdisciplinary exchange will hopefully open new pathways for collaboration and I can’t wait to contribute to and learn from the research community at Linköping University!
