MUNCH, Oslo, until 21st September 2025.

Visual & Material Lab collaborator Professor Allison Morehead has curated the ground-breaking exhibition Lifeblood: Edvard Munch, at MUNCH in Oslo until 21st September 2025. The exhibition juxtaposes Munch’s art with medical objects and images, such as a baby incubator, glass sputum bottles, a vaccine certificate, archival photographs and nursing badges. Together, the artworks and these historical items ask provocative questions about our modern experiences of health and illness, birth and death, the giving and receiving of care. Members and collaborators of the Visual and Material Lab will visit the exhibition for a three-day workshop in September 2025, bringing together collaborators from the Matariki-funded project Curating Cultural Heritage for the Medical and Health Humanities; contributors to the Lifeblood exhibition catalogue; and a public conference on Curating Modernism and Medicine.
