Our ReaderBank researchers have joined forces with the National Poetry Centre and are taking part in this year’s BBC Contains Strong Language: Poetry and Performance festival in Salford, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year.

Poetry and the Imagination: A ReaderBank Workshop
Friday 25 September, 14:00–15:00
University of Salford, Media City Campus

Orange Tower, Quays, Salford, M50 2HE

How might poetry engage the imagination in unique and different ways – and how would we find out? Come and join the team from ReaderBank to hear about their research into what goes on in the mind when we read. For Contains Strong Language there will be a special focus on poetry and we’ll be joined by poet Karen McCarthy–Woolf to explore what happens in the mind when a poem is either heard or read.

This event is FREE to attend, but booking is essential.

Does everyone imagine in the same way and do we imagine differently when we read poetry? Spend a few minutes taking part in our research project and you can lean about how your own imagination is working. At the same time, by talking to the friendly team from Durham University, your participation will contribute to new discoveries about how we read, imagine and experience stories.

The drop-in sessions are FREE – no ticket required.
