Recordings from Mind Wandering: The Science and Narrative now available

Recordings from the one-day workshop Mind Wandering: The Science and Narrative, organised by the Narrative and Cognition Lab, are now available to watch online.

Held on 2 July 2026, the workshop brought together scholars from neuroscience, psychology, and literary studies to explore how mind wandering can be understood across different disciplines.

The event featured talks from Kalina Christoff, Jonathan Schooler, and Melba Cuddy-Keane, who explored spontaneous thought, meta-awareness and mind wandering, and the relationship between associative cognition and literary narrative.

The event provided an interdisciplinary space to consider how mind wandering can be understood through both scientific research and literary narrative, and what these approaches can reveal about consciousness and inner experience.

The three talks have now been edited and made available as individual recordings. If you missed the workshop, or would like to revisit the discussions, the recordings are now available to watch on Vimeo.

The Narrative and Cognition Lab would like to thank all speakers and participants who contributed to the event. We look forward to seeing you at Discovery Research Platform events in the next academic year.
