The Senses and Medical Humanities

Recordings from the one-day workshop The Senses and Medical Humanities, organised by the Affective Experience Lab at Durham University, are now available to watch online.

The brainchild of Bridging Fellow Claire Turner, the workshop brought together scholars working across sensory studies and medical humanities to explore how sensory experiences shape our understanding and perception of health, illness, and disease. The event created an interdisciplinary space for researchers to share current work and reflect on how sensory approaches can contribute to medical humanities research.

The day included a series of short presentations from leading researchers in the field, alongside creative group activities and informal discussions designed to encourage collaboration and dialogue. The workshop also provided opportunities for networking, particularly for early career researchers interested in sensory studies and the medical humanities.

Five talks from the event have now been edited and made available as individual recordings in a dedicated playlist. If you missed the workshop, or would like to revisit the discussions, recordings from the event are now available to watch here: The Senses and Medical Humanities.

The Affective Experience Lab would like to thank all speakers and participants who contributed to making the workshop a stimulating and collaborative event.
